nanny applicants welcomHi Heather, Thank you so very much for assisting me with my request.  Your organization is one of the most professional and responsive organizations that I have ever worked with.  It is such a PLEASURE to be part of your team. If I do not speak to you prior to Thanksgiving, have a beautiful and blessed day!
A Nanny, Nov 2006

Once you are registered, parents will contact you directly to tell you about their position and to set-up interviews with you.  You should be prepared to discuss yourself, your background and your job requirements in a professional manner.  The job market for nannies is becoming increasingly competitive.  We recommend that you be as flexible as possible to the parents’ needs, but not to accept a position that you don’t think you’ll be happy in—we want you to stay there!

Keep a notepad and pen by your phone so that you can write down the parent’s information and take notes.  Remember that the parent already has the profile that was generated during your telephone interview.  If a parent leaves a message for you – call them back promptly.  If something happens and you lose their number – call us, we can get them back in touch with you.

As the employment process progresses, feel free to ask the parents questions about their parenting philosophy, about the way they would like specific situations handled, etc.  We want you to be as happy as possible in your employment, and the best way to do that is to make sure that you work for a family with which you are truly compatible.  See Interview Tips for ideas on interviewing and accepting a job.

Parents have a choice of programs to choose from (please see Parent Program Info to find out more about how their programs work).  You should be prepared to have your references and background searched.  You should have already contacted your previous employers and child care references to let them know that you are looking for work and that they will be getting phone calls.

The single most important thing for you to do is to stay in contact with us!  The strength of our program hinges on the accuracy of our database.  If anything changes about your profile you need to let us know immediately. nanny welcome to ptofamily

  • Let us know if your schedule changes (students should call us each semester and during school breaks with their new schedule).
  •  Let us know if you move or if you change phone numbers.
  •  Let us know if you’ve taken one part-time job and now you want a second part-time job, and what that schedule would be.
  •  Let us know if you’ve changed your availability from part-time to full-time or visa versa.
  •  If you accept a job offer – let us know right away so that we can remove you from the web site of active applicants.  That will save you the hassle of getting unwanted phone calls from parents.  But, we won’t remove you completely from the database and if you ever need to reactivate your profile it only takes a few minutes to do so.

Also, every time you contact us we change a field in your profile called ‘Date of Last Contact’ – and that field is how the database is sorted – so you move to the top of the list when you contact us, and that will give you more exposure to parents.  When a parent does a search of our database – the people that we’ve had contact from most recently are the ones that they see first.

We keep track of everything that happens with your profile whether it’s you calling to say ‘hi’ or if it’s a parent calling to complain that you didn’t return their calls – so, please stay in touch.  You can contact us by telephone at 480-460-1200 ext. #6 or by email at recruiter@ptofamily.com

Again, thank you for letting Parent's Time-Out, Inc. help you in your employment search, and do not hesitate to contact us with any comments, questions and, of course, any updates!
